The Cool Sport of Bouldering
If you’ve never heard of bouldering, then don’t worry, you’ll be hearing a lot more about it over the next few years. Bouldering is a form of rock climbing where you climb without using a rope. This may seem dangerous but you only climb up so high, around 15 feet or so. It’s still dangerous of course but that’s just part of participating in an extreme sport. Most people start climbing in a climbing gym. With the mats that they have, it makes it pretty safe and greatly reduces any type of injuries. Once you get good enough, you can start climbing outdoors. When doing this, you will need crash pads to cushion your falls. You’ll also need to get a good pair of climbing shoes as well. When climbing in the gym, shoes can often be rented but unless you only plan on climbing once, it’s a good idea to buy your own shoes.
